About this Event
Making things can be really rough on your skin, especially when working with materials that wick moisture out of your skin (I’m looking at you ceramics, wood, and leather). In this class you will be assisting in making a batch of what I call “Makers Salve” as well as learning the process of creating your own recipe. As part of the class you will also walk away with the recipe used during the class and some helpful information about what different oils, butters, and essential oils do for your skin. We will start out by making the salve, then while it cools off we will go over the recipe and information via a lecture, with plenty of time for questions.
• 1.5 hours scheduled, but may not take the entire time.
Techniques & Tools
• different kinds of oils and what they do in cosmetics
• how to formulate your own salve or balm
• safety when using essential oils at high temperatures
Cost: $5 to the instructor if you would like to take a 4oz jar of the salve home with you (the materials are out of his personal stash).
Special Considerations and Warnings
Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty in case some of the oils spill.
