Wow! Is this free for non-commercial service really that easy? Well….not quite. It seems that he forget to tell you about installation, learning the basics, using unsupported components and downloading the program to the MCU. After that,… yeah, it really is easy. In class we will pick up the pieces and fill in the blanks.

This class is ideal for the absolute electronics/programming beginner as well as more advanced users. This is not a programming class but a few commands will be discussed to allow simple customization.

The Wemos/Lilon D1 Mini is an exciting entry into the hobby Internet of Things market and contains a microcontroller compatible with the Arduino IDE. It is five times as fast as the Arduino Uno, one hundred times as much flash and includes WiFi. Attendees will each be using a parts kit with a Wemos, temperature sensor, servo, potentiometer, breadboard, LEDs and other components to begin to experiment in the fun world of Arduino-ish devices. All you need to bring is your smart phone or tablet and laptop.

You will leave class with knowledge, documentation, parts list and programs to acquire supplies and monitor your home.

To prepare for the class install the app at http://www.blynk.cc/ or Apple Store on your phone or tablet.

The following steps have been a problem on MacOS systems. I'm not familiar with Mac and cannot assist in this.

If you want to be able to modify the Wemos program on a Windows or Linux system you also need to install the Arduino IDE and Wemos software on your laptop. This is not required to accomplish most everything we talk about in class.
