About this Event
Learn what dye sublimation is, and how you can use it to decorate a variety of items using the equipment available at the Dallas Makerspace. If you want to decorate a t-shirt during the class, then you will need to bring it with you. I recommend 100% polyester, but any shirt with at least 50% polyester will work, to a degree. White is best, but other light colors will work, as well. DARK SHIRTS CANNOT BE DECORATED USING DYE SUBLIMATION. I will also have blank coffee cups, coasters, mouse pads, and possibly other items available for purchase during the class.
Bring your own images. Softgoods, (t-shirts, mouse pads, and other cloth items) require an image that is 150 dpi (dots per inch) at print size. For example, a 6" x 6" image would have to be 900 pixels by 900 pixels to look good. We can print an image up to 10-1/2" x 16", or 16" x 10-1/2". For hardgoods (coffee cups, coasters, ornaments, etc.) images of 300 dpi or higher look great.
Each attendee will leave with a pack of 4 sheets of legal-sized dye sublimation paper for future projects.
Special Considerations and Warnings
Dye sublimation equipment runs at temperatures of near 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and involves high pressures, so care must be taken around the equipment.
