About this Event

Students will learn to make a pot (or mug -- something round) using the pottery wheels. This is a multipart class because it requires Practice. The first day will probably not result in a decent pot. The extra days are also for letting the pot dry to leather-hard, and trimming the foot. If anyone wants a mug, pulling a handle may also be demonstrated.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A MULTIPART CLASS. THE FIRST DATE IS SUN 6/17. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP ON A LATER DATE. If you genuinely can't make the first date, let me know.

FYI -- the Beginners Throwing class has more hands-on instruction. I will be helping you with some cheats. I'm not sure why I'm still referencing Christy's class. This is the primary beginning throwing class.

I will be a bit flexible regarding attendance. I am usually in Fired Arts on Thursdays starting at 6:30 pm or 7 pm, and we can work then. There will be interruptions, because I give a spiel to the tours.

Throwing is not recommended for younger children because you need some upper-body strength to center the clay.

Special Considerations and Warnings

Wear clothes that can get dirty. Red clay stains garments. (Iron oxide is a great dye!) Short fingernails are required.
NOTE: This is a 3-part class. The first date is June 17. Please do not sign up on any other date thinking that it is a stand-alone class.
