About this Event
Learn how to:
***Laser engrave and prepare a wood plate for printing by hand or with the use of an etching press.
***Register your plate on a press bed for accurate printing of multiple sheets.
***Clean your plates and work area the environmentally safe way when you are finished printing.
We will be printing on Stonehenge (a high quality printmaking paper) as well as a variety of different cardstocks.
Prints can take home their prints right away, but it is recommended that they stay on the drying for 3-4 days later after they are dry to the touch. Students may take home their prints right after the class, but if you want to take them home that night and let them dry at home bring a cookie sheet so prints may lie flat and not stick to each other during transport.
Each student will also get an addtional blank wood plate that you can carve or etch on your own for hand printing at home or at the space.
STUDENTS MUST SUBMIT A SINGLE COLOR 2x3.5 .SVG VECTOR FILE BY MARCH 15 TO HAVE THEIR PLATE READY FOR PRINTING AT CLASS. If text is included, the font(s) must be turned into paths prior to sending the file. Email files to [email protected]
The $8 materials fee covers supplies (paper, inks & wood plates) and will enable you to take home a set of your own hand printed images.
I will bring my etching press to the next open print event for those who want to sign up for press time to print their home plate.
