About this Event
In this class we show how you can use 3D scan or a CAD design and quickly create a Reverse Mold on a 3D printer. From there we will use a common non-toxic alloy(no lead or cadmium) and create a hard metal object from your scan or CAD design. Yes, that’s right. We will pour or inject a molten alloy into a 3D printed reverse mold and PRESTO, have that object in a dense hard metal for display. The metal is reusable so if you don’t like what you made, make something else! Even better you don't have to use a torch to melt the metal!
This is so fun, easy and safe, that you will want to teach it to your children to do on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
You will be taught the workflow as following:
3D Scan an object>import into TinkerCad>Create a Reverse Mold>export to KissSlicer>3D Print>Inject or pour molten metal into mold>Voila! You have a Cool Metal object of your Scan!
Design an Object in TinkerCad or your favorite CAD Program>Create a Reverse Mold>export to KissSlicer>3D Print>Inject or pour molten metal into mold>Voila! You have a Cool Metal object of your Design!
Please remember, this class will not teach you how to use the 3D scanner, Tinkercad or 3D Printing. It will only show you the process and workflow. You do not need to have taken any of the classes for the 3D scanner or 3D printer to take this class. This class is designed to teach and show you the possibilities of the wonderful tools we have available. Be Inspired!

You don’t need to have taken any of the prerequisite tool classes to take this class.
You will learn how to chain together multiple tools and techniques to create cool stuff!
If you’ve taken all the tool classes to create these cool things, then you’ll be ready to go and make something cool.
If you haven’t taken any or all of the tool classes, you’ll know which one to take to make this cool project.
What these classes are and what they are not.
These classes will not spend time on how to use the specific tool. You will need to take that class afterwards to learn how.
With some limitations this class will demonstrate the tool and the software to create the project.
You will see an example of the final product, so that you know this is real.
Some tools require training, like the NextEngine 3D scanner, MultiCam or 3D printer. Some skill or knowledge of the software will need to be learned if you don’t know already how to use it. You will need to take the class to learn how to use it. We will not cover step by step instructions on how use or set up the MultiCam or 3D printers etc.
