About this Event

Attendees will learn the basics of ceramic stiff slab construction and how to apply those techniques to create polyhedral forms. Attendees will also learn the policies and processes involved in getting your ceramic work fired in the DMS kilns.

In order to expedite project time, I will be preparing the clay segments for the attendees before class, although we will go over all of the steps for accomplishing this, it would take too long for everyone to complete during class.

At the end of class everyone should have a bowl or plate that is ready to be fired to bisque, which should happen within 2-3 days. In order to have a complete and useable piece, I recommend signing up for the Ceramic Glaze Basics class on December 14.

Two forms will be available to choose from: a small plate and a bowl, see pictures below. Fair warning, the bowl is more challenging than the plate.

When you register for the class, I will contact you to find out which of the forms you would like to make. Once you have replied with your selection, I will approve you for the class.

Please wear clothes that can get a little muddy, and you might want to consider an apron. Because I will be providing the clay for these pieces, please bring $5 cash with you to class. Alternatively, payment of one whole pie could be substituted in lieu of cash.
