About this Event

Students will learn to make a pot (or mug -- something round) using the pottery wheels. This is a multipart class because it requires Practice. The first day will probably not result in a decent pot. The extra days are also for letting the pot dry to leather-hard, and trimming the foot. If anyone wants a mug, pulling a handle may also be demonstrated.

I will be a bit flexible regarding attendance. I am usually in Fired Arts on Thursdays starting at 6:30 pm (maybe 6, but I'm not promising that), and we can work then. There will be interruptions, because I give a spiel to the tours.

Throwing is not recommended for younger children because you need some upper-body strength to center the clay.

Special Considerations and Warnings

Wear clothes that can get dirty. Red clay stains garments. (Iron oxide is a great dye!) Short fingernails are required.
