About this Event
In this class we will make a Slimline Pen using a wood blank on the lathe. Like most kits these pens have brass center tubes, and are turned on a mandrel using end bushings as size guides.
Class Time
• 2 hours scheduled.
Techniques & Tools
• Cutting and drilling the pen blank to size
• Gluing in the brass center tube
• Turning the barrel for the pen
• Sanding and finishing the barrel
• Assembling the kit
Materials
• Slimline Kit & Pen Blank
• Lathe tools
• Pen bushings
• Pen Mandrel
• Sandpaper
• Friction polish finish
Cost: $10 paid to the instructor at the beginning of the class.
Special Considerations and Warnings
Please make sure to wear short sleeves, do not wear any dangling jewelry, and tie back any long hair. Bring eye and breathing protection at all times when using a wood lathe.
