About this Event
IMPORTANT NOTE- I have a few personal molds for students who may not have been able to attend the silicone mold making class the prior week, but half the number of class seats in this class are for those students who made a mold to get first priority. Hence, instructor approval will be required. Please send me any questions via talk if you have any questions!
In this class you will learn how to make a 7-piece dice set end to end. Additionally, we will review various kinds of project resins, their uses, mold making materials, and techniques for resin casting. This class will get you signed off on the Resin equipment.
The class is split into 4 separate lessons due to the nature of silicone mold and resin cure times:
Part 1- (2 hours) Cast the resin dice in the 2-piece silicone molds.
Part 2- (3 hours) Demold the dice, clean up sprue, sand/polish the dice, and ink the pips.
Techniques & Tools
- calculating volume
- measuring resin parts
- usable substrate materials for hybrid casting
- pigments, dyes, and effect powders
- pouring techniques
- pressure casting resin
- sanding, polishing, and finishing a cast resin item
Materials
- 2 part polyurethane resin (typically Alumilite Slow for woodworking)
- various pigments, dyes, and effect powders used in resin casting
Cost: $10 paid directly to the instructor at the start of the class for materials. Cash, Venmo, Zelle, and Paypal F&F are accepted.
