Introduction to the basic tools and best safety practices of the woodshop.
Students who complete the course will be certified for use on the miter saw, joiner, plainer, table saws, band saws, and compound sander. Students will get hands-on experience with each of the tools as they take a section of board down to a squared-up piece of lumber.
Students should come with close-toed shoes and a way to tie back any long hair, as well as remove rings, gloves, and other jewelry.

NOTE: DMS requires masks to be worn while at the Space - we will follow the current policy at the time of the class.
Wood will be provided.
Special Considerations and Warnings
Appropriate eye protection is required. Appropriate work shop attire is required including long pants/jeans, short sleeve shirt/top (or long sleeves with cuffs rolled above elbow), and sturdy closed-toe shoes or work boots.
NO: overly loose fitting (i.e. baggy) clothing; unbound long hair; dangling/swinging jewelry and other accessories, or gloves.
