About this Event

This is the second class of a three part beginner’s class to learn the full ceramics process with hands on help from the teacher, starting by learning how to use the pottery wheel to throw a basic cylindrical shape or bowl, trimming and adding a decorative foot to a pot, glazing a pot, and ending with a finished product.

In this class you will:
Watch a demonstration on how to trim by the teacher
Learn about the different types of tools used to trim pots
Choose the proper tools to trim your pot
Learn how to center your leather hard pot on the wheel
Trim and add a foot to your piece
Learn how to thoroughly clean the wheels after trimming
Learn the process of making ceramics at DMS to correctly store and place pieces on the shelves at each stage of the production process
Briefly get insight into the next steps taught in the following classes, Beginners Glazing 103

**You should have a leather hard piece ready for trimming when attending this class**

Please keep in mind that trimming takes practice, and that this class will focus more on the techniques.

Please sign up if you are in the Beginner's throwing 101 class a few days before this class date.

Special Considerations and Warnings

Although not required, it is recommended to have short fingernails as it is easier to trim with shorter nails.

We will be following social distancing guidelines. If you do not feel well or have a fever please do not attend class.
