About this Event
The hardest editing you will ever do on a novel will be to address structural problems. Pretty much anything else is fairly easy to revise with a nip here, a tuck there. However, if the structural foundation of your piece is uneven, even an otherwise strong work becomes fiendishly difficult to repair.
The easiest way to head this off is to go in with a plan. Outlining is an amazing tool that can take a good idea and turn it into a work of fiction a reader can't put down.
There are many easy, popular methods of giving a long work of fiction some important shape. In this class, we will cover three of them -- the Snowflake Method, Take Off Your Pants, and Save the Cat.
Each approach has its strengths and weaknesses, which I will also cover in class.
Feel free to research these methods before arriving, but it is not necessary. I will cover them in class (and send you home with some references).
This class is hosted by the Dallas Makerspace Writing Meetup but is open to anyone who wants to learn about this subject, including non-members and beginner writers.
