About this Event

We will be making thin gauge cubic shaped paperweights and learning what to watch for in the weld puddle, normal and abnormal welding sounds, recovering from joint gaps or burn through, what to adjust to fine tune welding parameters.

Heavy steel is easy to stick together, a little harder to make pretty welds, Thin gauge material is hard to work with, you need fast travel speeds, it is unforgiving, The parts move easily out of position while getting setup to tack weld a joint, easy to burn through, this will be a challenging class, Expect some frustration on your first attempt. The general idea is to get through one or two paperweights during the class, review the settings and travel speed after each of the 12 outside corner joints in each paperweight and figure out what to try next joint. Make another paperweight on your own time and compare the results as you gain some skills. Proudly show off your flubs and wins.
