About this Event

This class is for experienced welders who need to get checked off and people new to welding. We will cover machine setup and shutdown, consumables, gun maintenance, material prep, basic troubleshooting, and run some flat beads and inside corners.

We have two mig welders, we will rotate between the two machines so everyone gets to use both.

Hot process safety is a prereq but we are doing this class right after the hot process class so don't sign up unless you have had that class or are already signed up for the hot process class just before this one.

Special Considerations and Warnings

Prefer that you bring your own helmet but we do have some loaners that might be safe to wear, use your best judgement.
Must have:
Fire resistant or cotton face mask.
Safety glasses or goggles if you wear regular glasses.
Leather welding gloves, mid weight, not heavy duty, they are too hard to feel the microswitch in the trigger.
Leather closed toe shoes or preferably boots, A spark will burn through synthetic shoes instantly.
Long sleeve cotton shirt, green welding sleeves to go over your shirt are recommended
Cotton jeans. No synthetic clothing is allowed, too much of a safety risk.
