About this Event

This is the first class of a two part beginner’s class to learn the ceramic process of Slip Casting with hands on help from the teacher. You will learn the process of preparing a mold for slip casting, securing the mold, pouring the slip, identifying the appropriate amount of time to allow the slip to set up and dry, unmold, and the cleanup process.

In this class you will:
Learn about the plaster molds and where to find what DMS has available
Learn slip consistency and mixing
Learn the fundamentals of determining the appropriate time frames to let the slip set up
Practice pouring
Practice unmold
Practice cleaning up seam lines
How to clean and care for the molds along with the area cleanup processes
Learn the process of correctly storing your pieces for each stage of the production process
