About this Event

Make a small glass votive holder in this Glass on Glass mosaic class!

2-3: hands on instruction all you need to know
3-4: break / let glass set / continue working
4-5: grout and finishing touches

This class is specific to Glass on Glass which is a form of Mosaic art that lets the light shine through.

We will help get you started with your hands on project right at the beginning of class and while we guide you in making your project a success, the following topics will be covered:

+ Choosing an object to mosaic
+ Mosaic styles and designs
+ Selecting and cutting your glass
+ Glue options
+ Grouting and grout options
+ How to avoid pitfalls and how to recover :)
+ Framing and finishing your masterpiece
+ ...and of course, safety first!

Mosaic art is a blast and is an art form that anyone can be successful at. It is totally therapeutic and fun and does not require a whole ton of tools and supplies to get started.

This is a beginner basics class and is specific to Glass on Glass, but feel free to bring any mosaic project to work on or show off! The class is open to anyone who wants to just give it a try or who wants to dialog and offer fresh ideas and suggestions, so if you are beyond a beginner, please come and share your experiences!

The first hour of the class will be hands on while information is shared on each topic. If you choose to stay for the second hour, it will primarily be *lab* time to finish your project with music and snacks. Otherwise, you can take with you the necessary glass and grout AND expertise to finish your project at home or at the space!

Please feel free to collect and bring any beads/gems/notions or oddities to add to your project or to share!

Hope to see you there!!

Special Considerations and Warnings

Please be advised, working with glass can be painful! Latex gloves and goggles will be provided but cannot prevent all potential glass injuries!
The glue we will be using is E6000. It can be pretty stubborn when it comes to getting on your hands and clothing. I do not recommend wearing your favorite shirt ;).
A $15 materials fee is appreciated but is not required :)
