About this Event

Students will learn to make a pot (or mug -- something round) using the pottery wheels. If anyone wants a mug, pulling a handle may also be demonstrated.

I will be helping you with some cheats. This is a basic beginning throwing class.

I will be a bit flexible regarding attendance. I am usually in Fired Arts on Thursdays starting around 7 pm, and we can work then. There will be interruptions, because I give a spiel to the tours.

Throwing is not recommended for younger children because you need some upper-body strength to center the clay. I've heard that there are places younger folks can learn, but I only know the brute strength method of centering.

Due to the dearth of classes, I'm putting this one here despite my schedule. We're going to try to get it all done in one day. Merriment may now ensue...

Special Considerations and Warnings

Wear clothes that can get dirty. Red clay stains garments. (Iron oxide is a great dye!) Very short fingernails are required -- your acrylics are Too Long.
