Come visit your local makerspace and learn basic carpentry principles and safety while making a beautiful cherry, walnut or maple bread board!
This course is designed as a prerequisite to all Makerspace Carpentry Camp courses. It will also cover the basic safety training requirements for members of the hosting makerspace, so if you have not yet been cleared to use the large, stationary woodshop tools this is the perfect opportunity! Anyone with an interest in woodworking is invited to attend. You do not have to be a member of the hosting makerspace, nor do you have to sign up to participate. In this class students will learn the basic safety and operation of a:
-Miter Saw -Jointer -Planer - Table Saw -Drill Press -Band Saw -Router Table
-Edge Sander -Belt Sander -Disc Sander -Spindle Sander -Drum Sander -Finish Sander
If you are not a member of the hosting makerspace, and decide to become one, you will have woodshop access from day one!

YOU MUST BE 18 TO ATTEND THIS COURSE
Appropriate eye protection will be provided and must be worn at all times.
Appropriate work attire is required including:
Long pants/jeans (that fit well).
Short sleeve shirt/top (or long sleeves with cuffs rolled above elbow)
Sturdy closed-toe, non-slip shoes or work boots.
Tie back long hair and remove all jewelry prior to the start of class.
Keep all body parts away from spinning blades at all times.
Pay attention at all times!
Warn others in the kickback path!
Maintain your dust collection!
Use sharp tools!
