About this Event

This class is an introduction to the world of locksmithing. We'll briefly trace the development of the lock from ancient times to the modern day (with hands-on examples to share!), show the interior mechanisms of common locks, and then break out the picks and rakes so that you can practice opening them. We'll also cover common lockout situations as time allows, and discuss ways to help yourself or others with everyday tools.

PLEASE NOTE: this is a "pass the hat" class. Instead of paying a fixed up-front cost, we will ask you to donate as you are able at the end of the session (cash, check, or credit card all accepted). All funds raised from this workshop go to covering the cost of classroom supplies, and to supporting the Dallas Makerspace.
