About this Event
Learn to make simple wire rings in historical styles, including Greek spirals, Roman rosettes, and Saxon wraps. We will use 18 gauge wire, although these can be made with 16 or 20 gauge as well.
Hand tools to be used include ring mandrel, various pliers, hammer.
Instructor will provide copper wire ($1-2), or you may bring your own colored copper based wire that you can find at Michaels or Hobby Lobby.
I might bring some sterling silver wire, which would run $5-10.
Some styles can have a few beads added, if you want to bring some. Hole should be big enough to go over 18 gauge wire.
Junior makers are welcome if they are comfortable using hand tools.
Special Considerations and Warnings
Bring 18 gauge copper based wire or a few dollars to use instructor's. (16 or 20 gauge wire also work, but not as well.) If you want to add a few beads (3-8) to the Roman rosette ring, they need to fit over 18 gauge wire and be smallish. I might bring some sterling silver wire, which would run $5-10.
