About this Event
This is the third class of a three part beginners throwing/slip-casting/hand building class to learn the full ceramics process with hands on help from the teacher. It is not required, however recommended that students take one of the series of preceding classes, Beginners Throwing 101, Beginners Hand Building 101, Beginners Trimming 102, and/or Beginners Ceramic Slip Casting 101 and 102.
In this class you will:
Watch a demonstration on how to glaze bisqueware
Learn about the different types and applications of glazes
Learn about the types of glazes DMS offers and the cost for using glazes provided by the Ceramics Committee
Learn about brushing techniques, number of coats needed to glaze bisqueware, and layering techniques
Choose a glaze for your item
Brush glaze your item
Learn how to thoroughly clean up after glazing
Learn the process of making ceramics at DMS to correctly store and place pieces on the shelves at each stage of the production process

Glazing can get messy! Please wear clothes that you won’t mind getting dirty.
