About this Event
This is the class to gain RFID access to the large, stationary power tools in the woodshop that are not covered in woodshop 101. This will ensure you do not lose access when the RFID system goes live if you have only taken Woodshop 101/Basics.
We will cover basic steps to run the band saw properly and safely. Additionally we will cover how to secure stock on the drill press and set up the drill press properly with the correct bits, speeds and depths. Lastly we will cover all the sanders in the shop and how to use and not use them.
Special Considerations and Warnings
Appropriate eye protection is required. DMS does make necessary protective gear available, but feel free to bring your own. Appropriate work shop attire is required including long pants/jeans, short sleeve shirt/top (or long sleeves with cuffs rolled above elbow), and sturdy closed-toe shoes or work boots. NO: overly loose fitting (i.e. baggy) clothing; unbound long hair; dangling/swinging jewelry and other accessories, or gloves.
