About this Event
The larger the phone, the easier it is to crack the screen. For the cost of a ruggidized case or a ‘armor’ screen protector, you can simply replace the glass, screen, and digitizer. The screen we are replacing in the class has a net cost of $12.
We will run through a set of slides and get familiar how many common phones are assembled, or more importantly- how to take them apart. We will look what tools are used to ‘crack’ open a modern smartphone.
Next, we will discuss buying replacement parts and where to find them.
After a Q&A session, we will replace a screen...
If you have a phone and replacement parts, feel free to bring your device to the class.
As I post this class, I do not have a phone with a broken screen, so if you have a broken screen and want to (quickly) order parts, we can use your phone in class; otherwise, we will break open an perfectly fine iPhone...
Special Considerations and Warnings
We are makers... While many of us have a high success rate at replacing screens, we have to provide this instruction on a 'best effort' basis... Anything that happens to your phone in this class can not be held against DMS and/or the instructor...
