About this Event
With a Soxhlet extractor, a solvent is circulated through the biomass we've chosen (cinnamon bark, for example), in a continuous process. With each cycle, a little more essential oil is extracted. When the solvent is boiled away, the essential oil is left. This provides a higher yield of essential oil than the basic distillation setup.
This class is builds on the Distillation of Essential Oils class, but that class is not a prerequisite. You can take the classes in any order, and each class demonstrates a different technique for distilling essential oils.
After you've taken this class, you're allowed to use the equipment on your own to extract essential oil from your favorite source.
